Black Serpent Label is a clothing brand that evokes a dark and mysterious universe nuanced with a powerful spirit. Raw, provocative and unique statement pieces featuring original prints and innovative detailing allow the wearer to feel empowered and to stand out with unexpected style.

Black Serpent stands for equality, represents freedom of expression, and celebrates individualism within collective consciousness. The label challenges restrictive attitudes and aims to create garments for men and women that transition between seasons whilst encompassing fierce form and bold style. We take wardrobe staples and mix them with avant-garde detailing, merging functionality with aesthetic design. Black Serpent aims to create unique clothing that is comfortable and long-lasting, and has the ability to adapt to different needs by using layering, or simply with the use of appropriate accessories.

The collection “Obscure district” merges multiple concepts in a search for balance between nature and metropolitan lifestyle; it is a mix of ethereal energy and raw power, merging the yin and yang of these two contrasting opposites. The mood of the collection is intriguingly dark and enigmatic. It captures attitude, strength and sensitivity with its abstruse atmosphere and shadows. Drawing inspiration from alternative cultures and underground movements has resulted in the creation of boundary-pushing, provocative and experimental designs. A lot of inspiration is drawn from fetish, especially Japanese rope bondage art - Shibori - that has inspired us to take the rope that is normally tied around the body and adapt it into wearable garments. Snake inspired patterns and textures are also a reoccurring theme in the collection as the brand name suggests.

The collection presents a mixture of silhouettes including slim tapered as well as slightly oversized garments that follow the natural shape of the body, elongate it and allow for freedom of movement. Contemporary tailoring is mixed with drape designs; nature-inspired organic lines and textures meet urban edge and are blended through intricate, yet subtle monochromatic details that add visual interest as well as tactile feel. Black is the dominant colour for the collection. As a contrast, blends of deep emerald and forest green come into play in their various shades through different visual textures and fabrications.

Black Serpent label believes in conscious choices and slow fashion movement, taking into consideration the processes and resources required to make clothing. We share the belief that garments should be made responsibly and less frequently. The label aims to develop limited product release instead of seasonal collections, creating trans-seasonal garments rather than following the traditional fashion module. We put emphasis on the art of making clothes and the skills of craftsmen who make them as well as aim to use ethical processes and incorporate high-quality fabrications. Our label believes in creating unique garments that last, while keeping in mind the fair treatment of workers as well as the planet. All garments are locally produced in Sydney, Australia.
